The name "Ansoo" originates from its tear-such as shape (the Urdu word Ansoo implies teardrop). The lake looks like a human eye with a focal ice island taking after the iris and an edge taking after an eyebrow, which turns out to be significantly more conspicuous when ice dissolves on the "eyebrow" amid the mid year. This edge was somewhat wrecked in the 2005 Kashmir quake. This lake is thought to be a standout amongst the most delightful pools of the world.
